An Emergent Curriculum
We introduce a broad range of subjects based on the seasons, upcoming events, the local community and the children’s own interests. Our daily schedule comprises of free play, time both indoors and outdoors, as well as planned activities to further support children’s learning though play. Montessori education provides a range of experiences that stimulate the child’s love of learning and discovery. It is important to us that each child is allowed the freedom to develop at their own pace. By maintaining a blend of both child and adult lead activities we aim to develop and support the various individual skills and dispositions of every child.

Incredible Years Programme
Also referred to as Dina School, the Incredible Years Programme of classroom lesson plans delivered with puppets aims to strengthen children’s social and emotional competencies, such as understanding and communicating feelings, using effective problem-solving strategies, managing anger, practicing friendship and conversational skills, and behaving appropriately in the classroom.

Healthy Ireland Smart Start Ireland
We promote healthy eating and healthy lunches, we also hold fruit and vegetable tasting days and seasonally plant seeds so the children can observe where their food comes from.
As part of our hygiene programme, we ask for tooth brushes, tooth pastes and soaps. The children are encouraged to practice brushing their teeth and handwashing is an important part of our daily routine.
Emotional wellbeing is also part of this programme, we use books that talk about emotions, children can use the classroom mirrors to observe their facial expressions, we also have mood bottles and social exercies based on recognising and discussing emotions.
-
Special Activities
We celebrate lots of events including birthdays, festivals and national holidays. For example, for birthday's we will have cake and a party and on Pancake day, we make and eat pancakes with the children. We also hold events like Beep Beep Day, the Barnardo's Toddle Woddle and Graduation Day.

Outings
As part of our curriculum we regularly go on a bus to the local library in Dunleer. The children will each have their own library card and we encourage families to make use of this local service during the holidays. Often a sample of our children's artwork will be on display there as well.
We also make the much anticipated annual trip to Red Mountain Farm, to see all the animals, have a picnic and play!
